DowntownRevitalization_300dpiPeople often ask how to get involved with what’s going on Downtown and the answer is generally something along the lines of “come Downtown to see what’s going on and see how you can contribute.” The United Way of Southern Nevada is giving Las Vegas residents another outlet though, through their Downtown Revitalization event on June 8th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will be provided with water during the event and lunch at the conclusion of the event.

Riley Foley, the Downtown Ambassador Volunteer Coordinator for the United Way, says that volunteers will be participating in activities like “picking up trash, painting fire hydrants, building, painting, assembling new picnic tables for the students at Las Vegas Academy, pulling weeds, painting a base coat for a mural at Las Vegas Academy, beginning a ceramic tile project with the art teacher at Las Vegas Academy, and repainting a bus stop.” The United Way recommends that volunteers should wear comfortable weather appropriate clothing that they do not mind getting dirty or having paint on.

The United Way is still looking for sponsors for the event, too. For further information about sponsorships or the event in general, please get in contact with the United Way though their event page. We hope to see you out and about Downtown for this great event.
